Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises

Nifty June 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,193.20, a premium of 33.10 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,160.10 in the cash market. The Nifty July 2016 futures traded at 8,212, a premium of 52 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment totaled Rs 1.86 lakh crore, which was higher than turnover of Rs 1.62 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty fell 18.40 points or 0.22% to settle at 8,160.10, its lowest closing level since 27 May 2016.

Tata Motors, State Bank of India (SBI), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Tata Steel and Yes Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in the June 2016 series. Tata Motors June 2016 futures traded at 455, at a discount compared with spot closing of 455.60. SBI June 2016 futures traded at 203.70, at a discount compared with spot closing of 205.30. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries June 2016 futures traded at 768.65, at a premium compared with the stock's spot closing of 762.

Tata Steel June 2016 futures traded at 336.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 334.05. Yes Bank June 2016 futures traded at 1,030.90, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1,023.85.

The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016. The July 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 July 2016.
