Yes Bank spurts on encouraging Q3 numbers

Yes Bank rose 4.93% to Rs 706.75 at 11:43 IST on BSE after the bank announced good Q3 December 2015 results during trading hours today, 29 January 2016.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 241.73 points, or 0.99%, to 24,711.30.

On BSE, so far 7.65 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 2.70 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock hit a high of Rs 708.25 and a low of Rs 651.25 so far during the day. The stock hit a record high of Rs 910 on 4 March 2015. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 590 on 24 August 2015. The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 28 January 2016, sliding 7.93% compared with 6.01% decline in the Sensex. The scrip had, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 7.64% as against Sensex's 9.51% fall.

The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 419.94 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Yes Bank's net profit rose 25.07% to Rs 675.74 crore on 17.49% increase in total income to Rs 4122.12 crore in Q3 December 2015 over Q3 December 2014.

The bank's gross non-performing assets (NPA) edged higher to Rs 558.57 crore as on 31 December 2015 from Rs 491.35 crore as on 30 September 2015 and Rs 278.66 crore as on 31 December 2014.

The bank's ratio of gross NPAs to gross advances stood at 0.66% as on 31 December 2015, compared with 0.61% as on 30 September 2015 and 0.42% as on 31 December 2014.

The bank's ratio of net non-performing assets (NPAs) to net advances stood at 0.22% as on 31 December 2015, compared with 0.20% as on 30 September 2015 and 0.10% as on 31 December 2014.

Provisions and contingencies rose 111.77% to Rs 147.94 crore in Q3 December 2015 over Q3 December 2014. The provisioning coverage ratio as on 31 December 2015 stood at 66.5%.

Current and Savings Account (CASA) deposits grew by 45.1% to Rs 27019.4 crore in Q3 December 2015 over Q3 December 2014. The CASA ratio improved to 26.6% as at 31 December 2015 up from 22.6% as at 31 December 2014.

Total advances grew by 26.7% to Rs 84396.20 crore as at 31 December 2015 compared to Rs 66606.90 crore as on 31 December 2014.

Total deposits grew by 23.1% to Rs 101437.20 crore as at 31 December 2015 compared to Rs 82370 crore as on 31 December 2014.

Net Interest Income (NII) increased by 27.3% to Rs 1157 crore in Q3 December 2015 over Q3 December 2014, on account of strong growth in advances and retail and CASA deposits.

Non Interest Income increased by 39% to Rs 746.10 crore in Q3 December 2015 over Q3 December 2014.

The bank's Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) as per Basel III norms stood at 14.9% as on 31 December 2015, compared with 14.1% as on 30 September 2015 and 15.5% as on 31 December 2014.
