A haul of drugs weighing 850 kg was seized in an Albanian city Wednesday while being carried in a lorry, Xinhua reported.
Police in Albanian city of Durres seized the drugs in a lorry in the port area that was going to get embarked in the ferry to Bari, Italy.
The drugs was found inside the lorry hidden among packages of socks. The lorry driver Ilir Durmishi, 35, was detained, said official sources of the regional police department.
According to media reports, Albania is often used as an intermediate stop of drugs, such as cannabis, heroin and cocaine, to be smuggled into other European countries.
