A gang of armed robbers looted jewellery in the early hours of Monday from six women returning by bus from a wedding function in south Delhi, police said.
"As per eyewitnesses, three armed robbers intercepted the bus at gunpoint in Khanpur area around 3 a.m. when the women were returning to their homes in Sangam Vihar area. They asked all bus passengers to hand over jewellery," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal told IANS.
They fled the spot after threatening the bus passengers, Biswal said.
Police have since identified the auto-rickshaw used in the crime from closed-circuit television footage from the area.
There were a dozen-odd passengers in the bus when the crime occurred, police said.
