Two more patients succumbed to dengue in West Bengal, taking the death toll to nine in the state, an official said on Thursday.

"We have confirmed two more deaths since Wednesday; so the toll now is nine. As many as 1,117 cases have been reported since January this year," Health Services Director B.R. Satpathi said.

The state government had issued an advisory warning against letting water stagnate in any premises.

Various government arms and private bodies have been asked to campaign to raise public awareness to prevent major outbreak of diseases.
