Croatia's Marin Cilic has defeated Japan's Kei Nishikori 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the last round-robin match at the ATP Tour Finals and will now head to Zagreb for the Davis Cup final.
The result here on Friday night had no bearing on this year-end event, played at London's O2 Arena, because the semifinal line-up was already set before the players took the court, reports Efe.
Nishikori finished second in Group John McEnroe and will take on Serbian world No.2 Novak Djokovic -- the top finisher in Group Ivan Lendl -- in Saturday night's second semi-final.
Saturday's first semi-final will pit world No.1 Andy Murray of Scotland against Canada's Milos Raonic.
Cilic will now fly to Zagreb to join his teammates for the Davis Cup final, in which host Croatia will take on Argentina from November 25.
