A 23-year-old Russian woman was molested, beaten up and robbed at Baga beach, one of Goa's most popular beaches, police said Sunday.
The victim was walking along the beach, located 20 km from Panaji, when unknown assailants, slapped her, tore her clothes, and robbed her gold chain worth Rs. 33000 late Saturday, said a Goa Police release.
A first information report has been registered at the Calangute police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
This is one of the first reported body crimes against a foreign female tourist this season, which officially began mid-October. Goa's beaches have been under the spotlight for being unsafe to foreign tourists, especially women in recent times.
