Mexican footballer Raul Jimenez has signed with Portuguese side Benfica until 2020, making the move from Spanish club Atletico Madrid.

Negotiations for Jimenez, who landed in Lisbon on Monday evening, were nearly doomed because of Atletico Madrid's demands, Efe reported on Thursday.

Benfica coach Rui Vitoria will line up the Mexican attacker next to Greek player Konstantinos Mitroglou, Brazil's Jonas and the young Jonathan Rodriguez from Uruguay.

Benfica have not revealed the amount of the deal.
