Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday said he felt honoured when Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised him for not siding with the Congress when it was blocking business in parliament.
The Samajwadi Party chief, however, accused Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of telling blatant lies to the people of India and not fulfilling any promise they made during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing a gathering of party workers, Yadav said he felt honoured that Modi praised him for trying to safeguard democracy.
But this did not mean that his party would be silent on anti-people policies of the BJP-led government at the Centre, he said.
Accusing Modi of making false promises like the "Rs.15 lakh in every person's bank account", Yadav said people should be careful of divisive forces and political parties who did not have their welfare in their minds.
