Myanmar will mark the World Press Freedom Day 2015 in Yangon on Sunday, sources in the ministry of information said on Saturday.
Jointly organised by the ministry of information and Unesco, Information Minister U Ye Htut and Chairperson of House of Representatives Rule of Law and Tranquility Committee Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will speak at the ceremony, Xinhua news agency reported.
Resident Representative of Unesco Myanmar Sardar Umar Alam will read out a message from the Unesco director-general.
Myanmar has been observing World Press Freedom Day since 2012.
In 2014, the World Press Freedom Day was celebrated under the theme of "Media Freedom for a Better Future".
Last year, Myanmar promulgated a new media law, which allowed the formation of private or public media companies as well as related joint ventures.
