The Delhi Police has told the high court that no construction activity in any house in the Sainik Farms area was found during two inspection visits this month.
In an affidavit filed in the court, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) said there are 20 entry points to the Sainik Farms and each is guarded by municipal corporation staff or guards to keep a tab on movement of construction material in the area.
Pursuant to a high court directive, there is a blanket ban on construction in the area since 2001.
On September 7, the high court had directed the DCP to visit the Sainik Farms and submit a report on the alleged ongoing illegal constructions there.
A division bench of Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Ashutosh Kumar had also hinted at a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry against municipal or police officials under whose watch rampant unauthorised constructions came up in the Sainik Farms area since 2001.
The court had said it will take a decision on bringing in the CBI in the matter on the next date of hearing on September 21 after perusing the report of the DCP (South).
The court had made it clear it will not spare delinquent officials.
The court was hearing a public interest litigation on illegal constructions in the Sainik Farms.
