A driver and five of his accomplices, who robbed a businessman of Rs.1.5 crore posing as income tax officials here, have been arrested, police said Saturday.
"Inspired with a Hindi movie 'Special 26', the accused robbed a businessman of Rs.1.5 crore on July 18 posing as Income Tax officials in Delhi's Kotwali area," Additional Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said.
Sudhir Bhati, Praveen Kumar and Deepak Bhati were arrested Friday afternoon from Shalimar Garden in Uttar Pradesh, while three other gang members - Devender Tiwari, Deepak Kumar and Jitender Negi - were arrested from east Delhi's Shakarpur area in separate police raids.
Sudhir Bhati, who used to work as driver of the victim, Raghvendra Bansal, told the police that it was he who leaked the information to his associates Praveen and Deepak that huge amounts of cash was being frequently transported by the victim.
Police have recovered the money from the accused.
