Karnataka Saturday declared a three-day mourning for former union minister and former state governor Khursheed Alam Khan who passed away in New Delhi.
The national flag will fly at half mast on all government buildings and no official celebrations will be held in the mourning period that will end July 22, an official statement said late Saturday.
Khan, father of External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and son-in-law of late president Zakir Hussain, was Karnataka governor between 1991-99.
"People of Karnataka will cherish his services," Governor H.R. Bhardwaj said in his condolence message.
Khan's death was condoled by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Railways Minister Mallikarjun Kharge among others.
