A toll free access number has been activated at the Sukna military station in West Bengal's Darjeeling district to facilitate former army men settled in North Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar.
Lt Gen KJ Singh, general officer commanding Trishakthi Corps, inaugurated the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) toll free access number 18003453228 at the military station Thursday.
The IVRS would help former army officers residing in remote areas in Sikkim, North Bengal and Bihar check about their pension grievances, queries related to the Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) and the latest stock availability at the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) with just a phone call.
The helpline number will give information in English, Hindi, Bengali and Gorkhali.
It will also provide information about the professional colleges run by the Army in India and answer other relevant queries.
