Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar move up in ICC rankings

India's Virat Kohli moved up to the second spot in the batting chart while Bhuvneshwar Kumar earned his maiden entry into the top 10 bowler's list, following their 2-1 One-Day International (ODI) series win over West Indies, in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings released Monday.

Kohli benefitted in the rankings following his contribution of 191 runs in the series, which included a top score of 127 in the fourth ODI in Dharamsala Oct 17.

He climbed one place into the second position and 16 points off the top spot, occupied by South African AB de Villiers with 869 points.

South Africa's Hashim Amla dropped a place to the third spot and has 848 points.

Ajinkya Rahane is the other major mover in the batting rankings, jumping up nine places to 59th position while West Indies' Marlon Samuels leaped 20 places to 41st after compiling the highest series aggregate of 254 runs with two centuries against India.

In the bowling rankings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made it to the top 10 of the chart for the first time, improving by seven places to occupy the seventh spot. He has 657 points, three behind compatriot Ravindra Jadeja.

Mohammed Shami, the most successful bowler in the series with 10 wickets, broke in to the top 20 for the first time and is at the 16th spot.

Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal is at the top with 770 points, ahead of West Indies' Sunil Narine (753 points).

West Indies' Andre Russell were the other signifiant advancer as he climbed seven places to take the joint 63rd position while Jerome Taylor returned to the table in the 143rd position.

Pakistan's Mohammad Hafeez (411 points) leads the all-rounders' chart, with a 24-point gap over Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews.
