Rashtriya Samajwadi Party (Secular) RSP-(S) national President Shri S.U. Chaturvedi has announced a nation wide agitation to protest the rising prices of Milk and essential commodities to the national level. Addressing a press conference in Delhi on 17 February 2010, he attributed "wrong" policies of the UPA government in centre and congress and BJP on State level as reason for the sky-rocketing prices of essential items. S.U. Chaturvedi said, the protests will be aimed at “waking up the government and taking people’s voice” to the echelons of power.  Rashtriya Samajwadi Party (S) has unveiled plans to stage countrywide protests against the “burning issue” of price rise.  Party will mobilise people at the district and taluka levels and after that protests will be organised in the State capitals and finally we start a nation wide dharna and agitation in early March. The date of the agitation against the UPA government for its "all round failure" will be announced shortly, he said.  Press Conference was  Address by  Sh. S.U. Chaturvedi (National President), Sh. Shriprakash (President, North-East State), Sh. Vinay yadav (President, Bihar), Sh. Rajendra Prasad Tiwari (President, UP), Sh. R.K. Sharma (President, Gujrat) and Sh. C.B. Singh Raja (President, Delhi Pradesh).

Shri S.U. Chaturvedi said, we wanted to know what measures Union government had taken to check the price rise. Even pulses, sugar and milk which are mostly used by common people have become dearer and the Centre has totally "failed" to control the price rise.   The policies of the United Progressive Alliance, namely allowing private companies to buy grain, import-export policies, refusal to heed to the M.S. Swaminathan Committee recommendations on remunerative prices for farmers and the dismantling of the public distribution system were chiefly responsible for the dire situation, Mr. S.U Chatuvedi said.

Mr. Chatuvedi also attacked the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and congress, BJP and other big party –led government at state level on issues including rising prices, suicides by farmers and the foreign policy.  He said it is a big nexus between capitalism and congress and BJP.  "The Prime Minister had assured people that prices of essential commodities will be brought down in few days. Why does he have to make a promise which he cannot fulfill?" he said.
