17 bonded labourers rescued
The labourers were working at the units for about six years and being paid Rs 71 per person a day, which is far below the Tamil Nadu Minimum Wage of Rs 203.78, officials said.
They were rescued by district officials from Vaiyayur Village of Kancheepuram Taluk, following a complaint by an NGO, International Justice Mission (IJM), officials said.
