State BJP spokesperson NVSS Prabhakar made an appeal to Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), YSR Congress Party and Loksatta Party to back Sangma.
As opposition to Congress was one of the principles on which TDP was formed, and as it was trying to bring together the non-Congress parties, Prabhakar said Presidential election was the right time to forge such an alliance.
YSR Congress, which was taking on Congress on the issue of the arrest of its leader Jaganmohan Reddy, should also back Sangma's candidature, the BJP spokesperson said.
Sangma hailed from a small state and he favoured creation of small states, so TRS should vote for him and not for Pranab Mukherjee, Prabhakar added.
