Vehicles had a free run and crossed the plaza without paying the toll tax.

"The occupation of the plaza will continue until the 'illegal' toll plaza is shifted 20 km away from here and farmers of the area are exempted from toll tax," BKU spokesperson Rajesh Tikait said.

Assistant General Manager of the toll plaza, G V Rangasai, termed BKU's protest as "illegal".

The local administration denied to intervene in the matter. "The mess is created by the toll plaza company and they should get out of it themselves," Collector Vikas Gotwal said.

Law and order situation in the area is normal and vehicles are plying on the route, Gotwal said, adding, talks are under way between BKU leaders and toll plaza company members to resolve the deadlock.

SP (Rural) R P Pandey said they have not received any complaint from toll plaza staff so far and would take necessary action only after a complaint is lodged.
