The body of Safeer Iqbal was handed over to Pakistani authorities in presence of the district magistrate, army authorities and two of his relatives after completion of legal formalities, a police spokesman said here.
Iqbal, a resident of Khul area in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, had crossed to this side through Teetwal crossing point on July 12 to meet his uncle in Trehgam belt of Kupwara district.
He, however, drowned in a pond on Monday while taking bath, prompting authorities to take necessary steps to return his body to his family across the border.
