Cash relief paid to fishermen through their bank accounts

Puducherry government today credited the cash payment in the bank accounts of the fishermen in the Union Territory under a scheme to compensate the fishermen families for loss of work during the lean period.
A release from the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare said today that as much as Rs 6.29 crores was credited to the bank accounts of around 25,000 fishermen in the Union Territory.
An amout of Rs 2500 per fisherman family was paid, the release said.
