Chennai Angels invests in education start-up Skyfi Labs

The Chennai Angels (TCA) and investment bank Spark Capital today said it has invested an undisclosed amount in Skyfi Labs (Skyfi), a Bangalore-based education products and services startup.
Skyfi would use the funds to expand its reach to cover 1,000 new colleges, increase and refine the course offerings and enhance back-end technology.
"While the funding is no doubt useful, the connections, credentials and mentoring that the members of TCA bring are the real plus," Pavan Ponnaganti, Founder and CEO of Skyfi Labs said.
Skyfi Labs was launched the company in 2010 with the objective of enabling Indian engineering college students to get practical, hands-on training.

Rallis India,Star Bazaar launch export quality packaged grapes * Rallis India today said it has joined hands with Star Bazaar, both TATA Enterprise, to launch farm fresh 'Rallis - Star Bazaar Grapes'.
Under this brand, the grapes will be sourced through Rallis India's "Samrudh Krishi" initiative and aims to offer healthy and safe produce to the consumers, the company said in a release.
'Rallis - Star Bazaar Grapes' will be retailed by Star Bazaar at all its outlets in Mumbai and Pune, and are priced at Rs 115 for 1 kg and Rs 65 for 500 grams.
These branded and packaged grapes are certified by APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority).
"The grapes sourced from farmers are a part of our Rallis 'Samrudh Krishi' initiative and through our association with Star Bazaar we are able to take the farm fresh grapes to the consumers. We plan to launch the product in other markets across India during our second phase," Rallis India Managing Director and CEO V Shankar said.
'Samrudh Krishi' by Rallis India is an initiative aimed at introducing latest agronomy practices to farmers.

Carrier Midea launches new range of airconditioners * Aiming to increase its sales this season, aircondition maker Carrier Midea India today unveiled new range of residential window and high-wall air conditioners for Indian consumers.
The new line up comprises 31 models of high-wall split and window air-conditioning units, including three variants in the high-wall inverter category, Carrier Midea said in a statement.
Carrier Midea has competitively priced its products starting from Rs 27,050.
Commenting on it, Carrier Midea India vice president, sales and marketing Sanjay Mahajan said: "Our new range is comprehensive and designed to meet the critical requirements and we are confident we can further strengthen Carrier's position in the residential air-conditioning segment.
