CPI(M) to step up fight against 'Hindutva' forces

Resolving to step up fight against the "Hindutva" forces and their political offshoot BJP, CPI(M) today made it clear that the party was ready to join struggles with secular forces to secure interest of the masses without striking alliance with non-Left entities at national level.
The review report on the 'political-tactical line' adopted by the party here during the ongoing 21st National Congress, CPI(M) also emphasised on the need to strengthen its own support base to equip itself for campaigns on hand.
The party further called for reservation in jobs for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SCs/STs) in private sector as people from these communities had been hit hard by neo-liberal economic policies.

The main direction of the CPI(M)'s attack should be against the BJP since it is in power at the Centre. But this should not be construed as having electoral trucks with the Congress as fight against the saffron forces should not be reduced to mere electoral tactics, the report said.
"Priority should be given to enhance the independent role of the party and expanding its strength and mass base. The forthcoming 'tactical line' should be able to give a concrete direction and content to the struggle against the Hindutva forces and the communal ideology at the political, ideological and organisational planes."

It underscored the need for electoral tactics being dovetailed with building the Left and democratic front as there is no basis for national alliance with regional parties at all-India level in the given political situating.

However, there can be some electoral adjustments with non-Left parties in states wherever it helps rally the Left and democratic forces.
Seeking to provide a new impetus to the organisation and devise fresh ways to reach out to different sections of the people, the ideological orientation of the cadres will be strengthened through critical examination of methods and style of functioning at all levels, the report maintained.

Earlier, briefing reporters, CPM Politburu member Brinda Karat said the conclave had adopted a resolution demanding reservation for SCs/STs in private sector jobs and organise campaigns to bring pressure on the Centre to come out with a legislation on that.
