Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said the cross-LoC trade between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), will be reviewed to make it vibrant.
The assurance was given by the Chief Minister to a delegation of Salamabad-Chakoti Traders' Union, an official spokesman said.
He said the delegation requested to promote cross-LoC trade by inclusion of more items.
"Sayeed assured the delegation that he will review the cross-LoC trade so that it is made vibrant," the spokesman said, adding the Chief Minister also said that the inclusion of banking and telecom facilities, people-to-people contact and introduction of luxury coaches would be taken up to facilitate the trade and people-to-people contact across the LoC.
The spokesman said Sayeed also met several other deputations including a team of mediapersons from Chhattisgarh who are on a study tour to the state.
Led by Chairperson of Press Gallery Committee, Chhattisgarh, Mohan Rao, the delegation informed Sayeed that during their visit to the state, they are looking forward to get firsthand experience on how legislative business is conducted and covered in the state.
Another delegation from HDFC Bank, including Senior Executive Vice President and Head Branch Banking West Ravi Narayanan, and Circle Head, J&K, Zubair Iqbal, also met the Chief Minister and discussed various issues concerning the banking sector.
"During the meeting, HDFC Bank agreed to adopt two educational institutions to be identified under CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)," the spokesman said.
Other delegations who called on the Chief Minister include representatives of Islamia College Teachers Association (ICTA), Hari Singh High Street Traders Assocation and Wings and Shalimar Exhibition.
The Chief minister gave a patient hearing to the educationists and assured them that their genuine demands would be looked into sympathetically, he said.
