gutting about 100 houses in a Dalit locality in Bihar's East Champaran district, an official said.
The fire broke out in a house during cooking meal and soon spread to the adjoining areas due to strong wind gutting about 100 houses in Madhubani Dube tola under Sangrampur police station area, Circle Officer Raghunath Tiwari said.
Two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, he said.
There was no causality or injury to any one but household goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in the fire, Tiwari said.
A compensation of Rs 4200 and food grains will be given to each affected families, the officer said adding arrangements have been made to provide cooked food to the families for dinner.
