Proloy maker Raj Chakraborty, basing his flick on the brutalization of women in a hamlet years back, was given the crown as Best Promising Director but for a masala road movie made last year - Bojhena Se Bojhena.
'Anthony Firingi' Prosenjit Chatterjee, portraying the character of an abroad settled well-off Bengali in Aparajita Tumi, was given special award for the 'Most Outstanding Work of the year in Aparajita Tumi' while Aashique 2 musicc director Jeet Ganguly was conferred best nusic director crown for the chartbusters in Paglu 2.
Proving the support of the premier and oldest film scribe, critics' body to the multiple strands of Tollywood, masala Bengali film hero Chiranjeet was named the evergreen actor/director while middle of the road cinema's indispensable actor Kahaani-boy Parambrata Chattopadhyay was bestowed the special jury prize for Hemlock Society.
Late director Rtuparno Ghosh came in for special mention for his bold and visually enriching Chitrangada which was named the second best Bengali film followed by Antohhen-maker Aniruddha Roy Choudhury's Aparajita Tumi.
"In our 75th year we are proud to confer lifetime achievement crowns to Aparna Sen and Tarun Majumder," Chandi Mukhopadhyay said on behalf of the association.
