Govt paid for my trip to Las Vegas: Amit Mitra

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra told the assembly today that his trip to Las Vegas in 2012 was paid for by the state exchequer and not by any other entity.
He was replying to Leader of the Opposition Surya Kant Mishra belonging to the CPI(M) who wanted to know whether the cost of the trip was borne by the scam-tainted Saradha Group which was one of the principal sponsors of the event.
Mishra said that the estimated cost of Mitra's trip was Rs two crore.
Mitra had attended the North American Bengali Conference in the US city last year.
