Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar today said the government is committed to providing high-quality seeds and the state government has made elaborate arrangements for making these available to the last-mile farmer.
So far, more than 4.02 lakh quintal of certified seeds have been made available with the Haryana Seeds Development Corporation (HSDC) this year as against a sale of over 2.20 lakh quintal last year.
While the National Seeds Corporation has made available 1.30 lakh quintal of certified seeds so far compared with the sale of 53,245 quintal last year, Hafed has made available 66,000 quintal so far as against 63,000 quintal last year.
The minister said directives have been issued to provide additional two lakh quintal of wheat to HSDC, which will be made available soon.
Similarly, orders have been issued to provide more seeds to other government institutions, which included 50,000 quintal to NSC and 20,000 quintal to KRIBHCO.
Dhankar said HSDC had provided 1.80 lakh quintal of seeds to farmers till November 7 and 25,000 quintal is still with the Corporation.
