Indian Ocean heads line-up at London arts festival

Indian folk-rock band Indian Ocean was today named as the headline act for this year's London International Arts Festival (LIAF).
The annual event, to be held in early November, brings together international, national, regional and local performers across diverse musical genres like jazz, classical, folk and contemporary.
"I want to build on the success of last year's first ever LIAF, where we had 7,000 people attend our festival, and 2013 sees us working with award-winning artists and musical legends, as well as emerging artists," said Jyotsna Srikanth, an Indian violinist and curator of LIAF.
"This year's festival promises to be a magical journey and a wonderful insight for Londoners into the delights the international arts scene has to offer."

The festival, held between November 2 and 10 at venues across London like the Rich Mix Theatre and Kenneth More Theatre, is organised by Dhruv Arts, which was formed in 2004 to promote South Asian music, dance and storytelling.
Other highlights of this year's festival line-up include Greek fusion-folk music and traditional Polish music by the band Mosaic.
US vocalists Manasa Suresh and Sruti Sarathy will perform a Carnatic duet alongside the sounds of contemporary British Asian band Swaraa. Filter Coffee, an Indian ethnotronic collaborative project, will bring Indian tabla artist Swarupa Ananth and flautist Shriram Sampath together on stage.
