"Such a write-up should not have been published by 'Chandrika' (Indian Union Muslim League's official daily). It was penned by a columnist and it did not reflect the party's opinion," IUML leader and state Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty told reporters here.
Asked if the party would take action against the journalist who wrote the piece, the League leader said it was for the editor of the daily to decide that.
After running down Nair, who has been accusing the Oommen Chandy government of following a policy of communal appeasement, the article said the NSS leader was trying to carry out "the RSS agenda" by creating communal divisions.
With the write-up sparking strong reactions from several quarters including the NSS, League leaders had distanced from it yesterday itself stating that the views reflected in the piece were solely of the columnist.
