An Army jawan and his father were injured along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district as the Pakistan Army violated ceasefire for the sixth consecutive day today.
There was a ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army in the Nowshera sector today in which two persons - a jawan and his father - sustained minor splinter injuries, Army officials said.
There were also reports of brief small arms firing along the LoC in Poonch sector today, a police official said.
There have been several ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir in the last six days, beginning from August 12, when a jawan and a woman were killed, officials said.
On August 13, the Pakistan Army violated ceasefire four times by resorting to firing and shelling in Krishnagati, Mankote (Poonch district) Nowshera (Rajouri district) and Uri (Baramulla district) resulting in injuries to three jawans.
On August 14, there was firing by Pak Army on the forward areas along the LoC in the Tangdhar belt of Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
The next day, on August 15, a woman was injured in firing and shelling along the LoC in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.
Yesterday, the Pakistan army violated ceasefire by firing and shelling in civilian areas and forward posts at six places along the LoC in Poonch district, forcing the Indian Army to retaliate.
The year, 2017, has seen a sharp increase in ceasefire violations at the LoC by Pakistan. Till August 1, there have been 285 such violations by the Pakistan Army while in 2016, the number was significantly less, 228, for the entire year.
