The Kerala State Youth Commission today registered a case against those who had made abusive remarks on social media against three Muslim women students for dancing in a flash mob at Malappuram recently to mark World Aids day.
The commission directed the cyber police cell to investigate and take action against those indulging in "such obscene campaigns on social media and otherwise. "
Commission chairperson Chinta Jerome said in a statement that case should be registered under relevant sections, "including for insulting womanhood."
The Kerala Women's Commission had yesterday registered a case against those who had made abusive remarks against the three women, students of a dental college.
The students were trolled for allegedly insulting Islam by publicly dancing at an AIDS awareness campaign at a traffic junction in Malappuram on December 1.
The women, wearing hijabs and jeans, had performed the 'Entammede Jimmikki Kammal' a popular number from a Mohanlal film.
The video of the flash mob at the busy traffic junction had invited the wrath of a section of the muslim community and the students were trolled for allegedly causing "disgrace" to Islam.
