Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's 'Make in UP' are supplementary to each other, said state Governor Ram Naik today.
"If Make in India succeeds, it would surely benefit UP which is the largest state of India, and if Make in UP succeeds, it would surely benefit India," Naik said.
Addressing an oath taking ceremony organised by Kheri Vyapar Mandal unit, Naik said,"Prime Minister Modi with a view to attract foreign investment gave slogan of Make in India, similarly, state CM Akhilesh gave slogan of Make in Uttar Pradesh. Now it is upto one's perception how he sees both. The two as supplementary to each other or as competitive one."
Stressing upon the need to promote entrepreneurship in UP, he said, "about 25 per cent population of Mumbai hails from UP and Bihar. They shifted to Mumbai to make money working in various trades like electrician, builders, industrialists. They live in Mumbai where 65 per cent people are slum-dwellers."
"These people should have worked in same capacity in their states to make it developed," he said.
Lauding the state for its immense trade opportunities, Naik said "During my 15 months term in UP, I visited a number of places and observed that need of the hour was to explore opportunities and to brand them for the benefit of the state."
Calling upon the traders and industrialists to join hands with the government to make UP as Brand, Naik said, "UP must learn to brand its trade opportunities like Banarsi Sarees, Lucknow chicken, Moradabad brass, glass-work of Ferozabad as these had immense scope for development," he said adding, "similarly tourism branding for Ayodhya, Varanasi, Agra etc was must.
