The man developed friendship with her through mobile phone and asked her to come to the bus stand here recently. He introduced himself as Lawrence from Madurai though he actually was from Vilathanendal village in Ramanathapuram district.
He illegally detained the girl at a forest area and allegedly repeatedly raped her. As she started bleeding, he brought her to the government hospital here some days back and then escaped.
On a complaint from the girl, police launched a search and used her mobile number to trace him to Vilathenadal village, following which he was arrested today.
The age of the man and girl were not disclosed.
