The 12-day Winter Session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly beginning tomorrow is expected to witness opposition Congress attacking ruling BJP on issues besetting farmers and the recent botched up eye surgeries in the state's Barwani district.
Buoyed by its win in Ratlam Lok Sabha seat bypoll recently, Congress has decided to up the ante against the government during the session.
"This BJP state government has lost people's faith and the Ratlam by-poll, which we won by more than 88,000 votes, testifies this," Deputy Leader of Opposition Bala Bachchan, who is going to lead his party in the House as his senior Satyadev Katare is unwell, said today.
"We are going to bring an adjournment motion on the botched up cataract eye operations carried out by government doctors recently in Barwani district after talking to our members tomorrow," he said.
He said that they are going to raise the issue of the tardy pace at which compensation is being paid to drought-hit farmers, who are also being burdened with inflated electricity bills at a time when they are in distress.
He also alleged that the farmers were getting fake manure, seed and pesticides across the state.
"Besides, we are going to take to task the government over rampant corruption prevailing in the state, especially in cooperation banks which are beset with recruitment scam," he said.
Bachchan said that they are also going to raise in the House the issue of alleged scholarship scam involving Rs 400 crore, under which many influential students got scholarship for courses with the help of fake documents.
Meanwhile, gauging the mood of Congress, Assembly Speaker Sitasharan Sharma has convened an all-party meet tonight for smooth running of the House.
Senior Congress leaders have been invited for the meeting.
