"Made a surprise visit to RML hospital Delhi this morning, to check preparations for dengue. Instructed RML officials to ensure enough availability of platelets for dengue patients, checked on cleanliness, hygiene," Nadda said in his tweets.
He also inspected various wards and pharmacy, interacted with patients to find out their problems, instructed officials to put on display available and non-available medicines so that people can get informed everyday.
'Kayakalp' is an initiative of the Health Ministry to encourage public health facilities in the country to work towards standards of excellence to help the facilities stay clean and hygienic.
Nadda while chairing a meeting with various NGOs yesterday invited them to adopt a ward or a section in the three government-run hospitals in the city to help improve cleanliness and amenities in the institutions.
The Health Minister also met representatives of doctors and nurses and issued instructions for improving their working conditions.
"I interacted with doctors, nurses, patients to find out their problems. This would help me to introduce systemic changes. To begin with we are looking at giving more powers to the hospital administration through Rogi Kalyan Samitis so that hospitals can be run in a better manner," Nadda said.
The minister said that his Ministry is committed to improving not only patient health care but also facilities for our doctors, nurses and other hospital staff.
"I have instructed officials in the ministry also to expedite the work on pending proposals regarding this. I would continue to conduct such surprise checks in other central government hospitals and health facilities," he said.
