"The statements by state tourism minister Dilip Parulekar and Calangute legislator Michael Lobo, admitting about drugs in the coastal belt, indicated that the home ministry led by Parrikar has failed to handle the department," NCP Goa unit spokesman Trajano D'Mello told reporters here.
He demanded that state government come out with a white paper on the "narcotics scene" in the state, especially in the coastal belt.
NCP also took strong objection to the tourism ministry's move to make it mandatory for shack owners to install CCTV cameras at these facilities.
"The shack owners can install cameras only if there is 90 per cent subsidy provided by the government," said D'Mello.
The tourism department is contemplating to make setting up of CCTV cameras compulsory in shacks along beaches to monitor movements.
