A large number of tourists from far flung areas of Jharkhand and adjoining state visit the steel city on the occasion New Year and the East Singhbhum district police was geared up to provide them security, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew.
Addressing a press conference here, Mathew said adequate forces have been deployed at sensitive spots including Dimna lake, which attracts large number of revellers.
Apart from videography, he said the district police have already launched a massive drive to apprehend anti-social elements, eve-teasers and detained over 180 persons.
Mathew said security arrangements would be in place for the next few days as tourists keep visiting the city for a good part of January.
