"You have to work for nation, its good and unity. Like Yudhishtir or somebody you cannot compromise on Kashmir. It is yours, you have to work for it, but when you say Kashmir is yours, the people in Kashmir is also yours," he said.
Madhav quoted how in Mahabharat, Yudhishtir was willing for a compromise with Kauravas, and then in an apparent reference to the present unrest, he said "today they are pelting stones, no doubt, but they are misled."
Hitting out at pro-Pakistan elements for fomenting trouble again by employing similes, he said "your fight is with Kaurava's, who happen to have some connection with Khandahar and Gandhari, and all that across the border. You have your battle with them, you will fight it out, but your battle is not with people, they are our people, because this nation is one."
In his lecture on 'Nationalism, Internationalism and Bhagwad Gita,' organised here by Chinmaya Mission as part of its 'Gita Mahotsav-Swami Chinmayananda's (1916-2016) Birth anniversary celebrations,' he said the message of the revered text was for the entire mankind.
Recalling how Gita's message inspired a range of freedom fighters including a pacifist like Mahathma Gandhi, and revolutionaries like Aurobindo and Bal Gangadhar Tilak, he said, "it has as much profound message for today as it was for Gandhiji and other freedom fighters including revolutionaries like Tilak."
He also rued opposition to make Gita a national text.
