No parents, principals in EWS quota scam charge-sheet

Delhi Police, which is probing the role of more than 200 people, including school principals, clerks and parents, in the EWS quota admission scam, has not named any of them in the charge-sheet to be filed at a city court tomorrow.
The 700-odd pages charge-sheet includes the names of 10 persons -- arrested and later sent to judicial custody -- linked with three different modules operating in the city, a senior official said today.
"We are still investigating the case and have questioned at least 200 parents, several clerks and a few school principals.
"A supplementary charge-sheet containing these details is likely to be filed in a month's time," said the official.

The modules allegedly used to charge between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh for each admission, depending upon the school and the financial capacity of their clients.
Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, makes it compulsory for all private unaided recognised schools to admit at least 25 per cent children belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS) and the disadvantaged group category to entry level classes and provide free education to them at least till completion of elementary education.
On June 16, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police claimed to have busted a module in connection with EWS quota admissions, with the arrest of four persons identified as Mukesh, Anil Kumar, Sudama Singh and Dharam Singh.

Mukesh was the alleged kingpin of the module.
