NTPC Q4 Net dips 7.73% to Rs 2,716.41-cr on low sales

Total consolidated income has decreased from Rs 82,675.40 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 79,939.56 crore during 2015-16

State-run power giant NTPC today reported 7.73% drop in its standalone net profit at Rs 2,716.41 crore in the March quarter due to low demand from discoms resulting in sales dip.

The company's standalone net profit in the March quarter last year was Rs 2,944.03 crore, NTPC Ltd said in a BSE filing today.

Total standalone income of the company has dipped from Rs 19,879.38 crore in th fourth quarter of 2014-15 to Rs 18,560.70 crore during the period under review.

The company's standalone net sales of electricity was at Rs 17,990 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 19,229.94 crore in the year ago period.

The company supplied 57.95 billion units of electricity during the period as compared to 57.38 billion units in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

For the entire 2015-16, the company supplied 224.926 BUs as compared to 225.007 BUs in 2014-15.

The company's plant load factor (PLF) or proportion of generation capacity utilised was 62.28% in 2015-16 as compared to 64.25% in the year-ago period. Its average tariff of electricity was Rs 3.18 per unit during the recently concluded fiscal.

The company reported a standalone net profit of Rs 10,242.91 crore in 2015-16 as compared to Rs 10,290.86 crore in 2014-15.

Total income too dipped during the year from Rs 75,337.36 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 71,696.07 crore in 2015-16.

However, the group's consolidated net profit rose to Rs 10,182.81 crore during 2015-16 from Rs 9,986.34 crore in the previous fiscal.

In separate filing the company has also informed BSE that the Board of Directors have recommended final dividend of Rs 1.75 per equity share for the financial year 2015-16.

The final dividend is in addition to the interim dividend of Rs 1.60 per equity share for 2015-16 paid in February 2016, it added.

The company's total installed capacity as on March 31, 2016 was 46,653 MW, up from 44,398 MW as on March 31, 2015.
