The decision to hold the three-day Assembly session, beginning tomorrow, was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, chaired by Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal here today.
Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Electricity Minister Natham Viswanathan and members belonging to opposition parties including DMDK, DMK and CPI(M) participated.
"We had sought a 10-day session. When it was not considered, we requested them to hold the session for seven days and when that was also not acceded, we wanted a five-day session," Whip of main opposition DMDK, V C Chandrakumar told PTI, adding that even that request was not accepted.
"The short sessions appears only a formality. There is no opportunity to discuss several issues. A decision will be taken on whether to participate or not at a meeting to be chaired by party president Vijayakant," he said.
DMK member Sakrapani said he walked out of the meeting expressing his party's protest over the decision to hold the session for only three days.
