While main Opposition Telugu Desam Party protested the unprecedented power cuts, Telangana Rashtra Samiti wanted a resolution passed by the House seeking creation of Telangana state. The YSR Congress insisted on a debate on the fee reimbursement issue while three BJP and an independent member too raised their voice in support of Telangana.
Amidst noisy scenes, Speaker Nadendla Manohar adjourned the proceedings first till 10 am and later for another half an hour but to no avail. He postponed the questions listed for the day.
As the TRS members stood their ground in the Well of the House demanding a resolution on Telangana, other Opposition members continued their protest at their respective positions.
The TDP members displayed lanterns highlighting the grave power crisis gripping the state. The slogan-shouting Opposition MLAs did not relent and the din continued.
The Speaker then adjourned the House for the day even as it was supposed to take up a short-duration discussion on the power crisis. A note on the power situation was, however, circulated to the members as the protests continued.
Earlier, TDP President and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu led his party legislators on a foot march from Tank Bund to Assembly protesting the power cuts in the state.
CPM legislators came to the Assembly on bicycles, resenting the hike in fuel prices.
