The tournament is to start tomorrow and Gujarat Assembly Speaker Vajubhai Vala is supposed to inaugurate it.
Congress workers, including MLA Indranil Rajyaguru and local leader Kashmira Nathwani, dug up the pitch today.
"Six persons from a Nepalese family have to commit suicide by setting themselves ablaze, protesting against RMC's policy; and people of the city are facing extreme shortage of drinking water, but RMC is wasting water by organising such tournament," Rajyaguru said.
Six members of a family recently immolated themselves at RMC office, fearing eviction from their allegedly unauthorised house.
