Khan crossed over to India through the land transit route of Attari/Wagah border on a personal visit to attend marriage function of a family friend.

Keeping the welfare of people of India and Pakistan on the forefront, he said there was a dire need to sink the differences to move forward for peace and prosperity.

Nothing could be achieved from past differences, he said.

Talking about the visa for elderly people, Khan said he had initiated the proposal of exemption of visa for the elderly so that they can accomplish their dream to visit their place of birth without any hassle.

Exchange of expertise in various fields like solar energy and agriculture would be a appreciable step, he said.

Khan said he strongly favoured to ease visa norms from both sides so that people from both countries could visit each other's nations frequently as it would promote 'people-to-people' contact.

On his arrival Khan was extended a red carpet welcome besides a special guard of honour at the international Attari border.

On the behalf of Punjab Government, he was received by Cabinet Minister Punjab Bikram Singh Majithia along with Manjit Singh Manna and Baljit Singh Jandiala Guru (both MLAs).
