PCB set to give fresh central contract to players

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to give out fresh one year central contracts to the players for the period starting July 1st 2015 to June 30 2016.
Breaking away from its customary policy of giving central contracts to players from January to December every year the PCB governing board at its last meeting decided to change the system.
"We have already given the players six month contracts from January 1st to June 30 this year with an enhancement of 10 percent in their monthly retainers," one board official confirmed to PTI.
"All the players who were given the six month contracts have already signed them as well before leaving for Sri Lanka," he stated.

The official said the players had now asked the board to hold talks on the new 12-month contracts which would start from July 1st 2015.
"In the six-month contract, we gave out the board also ended the practice of awarding win bonus amount for each Test or ODI win and now the team will only get win bonus for winning a series," the official said.

The official declined to name the players who were given the six-month contracts but said seniors like Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, Muhammad Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal and Azhar Ali were given contracts in category A.

He said the six-month contracts were given because the old contracts of the players had ended on December 31st, 2014 and the players had refused to accept three month extension on those contracts before going for the World Cup.
"But after talking to some of the senior players they later agreed to accept six-month contracts with 10 percent increase and on condition fresh 12-month contracts would be given out from July 1st," he added.
