This was stated in a letter by Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers M K Alagiri to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, an official statement said today.

"The Planning Commission has also accorded in-principle approval for Open Bidding and Expression of Interest (EoI) for equity participation from private sector companies.

"In his letter, the Union Minister also stated the decision to appoint a consultant for preparation of Expression of Interest," the statement said.

This would be the fourth ammonia urea complex unit at BVFCL.

"The consultant will be appointed initially for option analysis, feasibility analysis of options and to suggest the most suitable option. Thereafter, depending upon chosen option and approval from the government, Transaction Adviser can be appointed for subsequent phase," it said.

Gogoi had earlier written a letter to Alagiri seeking information about the latest status of the proposed brownfield complex at BVFCL.
