Punjab's fifth drug de-addiction centre to start soon
Press Trust of India Jalandhar Punjab's fifth ultra modern drug de-addiction and research centre, laden with advanced treatment technologies and counselling facilities, will be operational soon, official said.
"We have sought permission from the Medical College to start the de-addiction centre and are waiting for a green signal from the Government Medical College in Amritsar," said head of the centre and assistant professor of the college Nirdesh Goyal.
Asked about the tentative date when the centre can start functioning, he said that some machines are yet to arrive.
Informing that the centre is different from the other four, Dr Goyal said that in addition of being a drug de-addiction centre, it also has an Out Patient Department (OPD) and also can act as training centre for doctors and paramedical students and a referral hospital.
"It will also have yoga training facility, gym, psychological counseling facilities. There is a possibility of a laboratory and a pharmacy within the premises," he said.
The four other de-addiction centres in the state are situated at Amritsar, Faridkot, Patiala and Bhatinda.
