Haryana Staff Selection Commission Chairman B B Bharti has been suspended in the wake of a row that erupted after aspiring junior engineers were asked to identify as to what was not a 'bad omen', with the options including 'a black Brahmin, a Brahmin girl'.
The BJP government has also decided to register an FIR against a "Delhi-based company which was awarded the contract for setting the paper", the paper-setter and the publisher, Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma told reporters here today.
He said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has also decided to set up a high-level inquiry commission to investigate the matter.
"HSSC Chairman Bharat Bhushan Bharti, would remain suspended till the inquiry is completed," Sharma said.
Sharma said prominent people from the Brahmin community met the CM earlier in the day here and demanded action against the guilty.
"The chief minister announced the decision to constitute a high-level inquiry commission, registration of an FIR against the company, the paper-setter and the publisher. He also said Bharti would remain suspended till the completion of the inquiry," the education minister said.
According to Sharma, the chief minister assured the community of strict action against those found guilty and said that like those of the Brahmin community, his sentiments too had been hurt by this incident.
Sharma said since the HSSC is an autonomous body, the inquiry would be conducted by a high-level officer, a retired or sitting judge of high court. "Advice of the Advocate General, Haryana, is being sought on this issue. The inquiry commission would submit its report at the earliest."
