Gauran had been evading arrest in the case against him lodged by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police for allegedly leaking Rajasthan Judicial Service (RJS) question paper to help his daughter clear the examination conducted by RPSC in 2013 when he was its chairman.
He surrendered before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Shankar Lal Ojha and moved a bail application.
The court after hearing arguments on the application granted him bail, according to Gauran's counsel.
After initial probe, the SOG registered a case against Gauran and summoned him for questioning but he failed to turn up. Following this, a local court issued arrest warrant against him earlier this month.
Gauran had to quit as the RPSC chairman in September last year following allegations of irregularities in conduct of examinations.
